Managing director Gary Bigwood is generally each client's primary point of contact with A4.
Trained as a graphic designer, Gary's first job was with Clarks Shoes where he gained a grounding in corporate design working under the guidance of design group Pentagram.
Later he moved to London and spent several years building up his direct marketing and catalogue skills at Grey Direct (formerly Halsey Leigh & Young). By the early 90s he was running the Innovations catalogue team at this agency producing The Innovations Report, The Leading Edge and Kleeneze catalogues. While at Grey Direct he was also responsible for catalogue production for Pact International, Misco (computer supplies), Webb Ivory and Scotcade.
Gary's staffing includes a team of experienced freelancers who are drafted in when specialised skills are required. These include catalogue designers, specialist copywriters, illustrators and photographers. The ability to call on freelance resources as and when needed is what makes A4 such a flexible and cost-effective solution. In fact it proved such an eye-opener for one client that they decided to close down their own in-house production department and outsource all future catalogue design and production.
