A4 came into being over 15 years ago when four freelance designers and copywriters, including Gary Bigwood, set up an office in central Twickenham. All four had worked in senior positions for leading direct marketing agencies in London. Their combined experience in design, copy and catalogue production had taught them one important lesson - that there are lots of clients out there who want to buy in specialist catalogue expertise without paying typical 'agency' rates.
What A4 offer is straightforward: proven design skills and production experience, plus the sure knowledge that the job will get done within schedule and budget - to the highest creative standards.
What you don't get are all the hassles of working with a conventional agency: the politics, the sense of 'us' and 'them'... and the suspicion that you're also footing the bill for the leather sofas in reception and the fleet of cars outside.
This premise paid off. Since start up, A4 has designed, written and produced catalogues for dozens of very happy clients, ranging from new start-ups, multi-product catalogue companies to blue-chip business-to-business operations.
Gary Bigwood has been invited to judge at the prestigious annual ECMOD awards on three consecutive occasions.
